Hello Neighbors,

My heart goes out to the families affected by the recent tragic plane crash. Please know that the District 8 team stands with those families and everyone experiencing loss during this difficult time, and we extend our deepest condolences.

February is Black History Month—a time to honor the rich contributions of African Americans who have shaped our nation and continue to inspire us. Let’s take this month to reflect, celebrate, and recommit to the work of justice and equity in our community. We also will celebrate Heart Health and Valentine's Day. Remember to show appreciation to our loved ones and extend kindness to those around us. Small gestures of love and compassion go a long way in strengthening our bonds as a community.

Join me for a District 8 Town Hall Meeting on the MGM Local Impact Grant (LIG) on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Southern Regional Technology and Recreation Complex. This is a crucial opportunity to discuss investments in youth employment, housing stability, food security, healthcare, and economic empowerment. I am honored to welcome Senator C. Anthony Muse as our special guest. Additionally, I urge you to speak to support my FY 2025 MGM Local Impact Grant (LIG) Plan on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the public hearing. With your advocacy, we can secure funding for job creation, housing assistance, healthcare expansion, veteran support, and financial literacy programs. Your voice ensures these vital resources remain in our community.

Remember to cast your vote in the Special Election. You should have received or will soon receive your ballot; please make your voice heard. Stay engaged as we work to shape policies and investments that directly impact our community. I will share updates on key legislation and the upcoming Fiscal Year 2026 budget in the weeks ahead. Together, we can build a stronger and more prosperous District 8.

Residents of District 8 who live within a six-mile radius surrounding the MGM Casino can attend Prince George's Community College TUITION FREE! To date, $2 million has been allocated to the Local Impact Grant/Scholarship Funding at Prince George's Community College just for you. I need your help to spread the word to our District 8 neighbors!
