Dear Prince George’s County Community,
As we welcome 2025, I want to express my gratitude for the trust you’ve placed in me as your At-Large Councilman. Together, we’ve built a stronger, more unified community, and I’m excited for all we will achieve in the year ahead.
May this New Year bring you and your loved ones health, happiness, and prosperity. Let’s continue working together to make Prince George’s County a better place for all.
- Calvin S. Hawkins, II, Council Member At-Large

As we close out the year, I want to share some of the legislative efforts I’ve had the privilege to lead. Here are a few key bills I sponsored to address community needs, promote equity, and foster growth across Prince George’s County. Each piece of legislation represents a step toward building a stronger, more unified community.
You can view all bills passed here. However, these are a few highlights:
CR-017-2024: A resolution expressing the Prince George's County Council's support for banning unregistered, unregulated firearms, known as "ghost guns." These weapons are often assembled from parts that lack serial numbers, making them difficult for law enforcement to trace. The resolution advocates for making the county a "Ghost Gun-Free Zone" by banning the possession, sale, and distribution of these firearms. Ghost guns pose a growing public safety threat, as they can be easily assembled without background checks and are often used in crimes.
CB-083-2024: The "Noise Abatement Monitoring Systems - Pilot Program" act introduces a trial in Prince George’s County to use technology for enforcing vehicle noise limits. The goal is to reduce noise pollution, improving public health and quality of life. The pilot will assess the system's effectiveness before possible wider adoption.
CB-055-2024: The "Permanent Rent Stabilization and Protection Act of 2024" regulates rent increases in Prince George’s County to keep housing affordable and prevent excessive hikes. It provides renters with more security and stability, helping to address housing instability and displacement.
