Hello Neighbors,
I hope this message finds you well and that you and your loved ones had a joyful and fulfilling Thanksgiving holiday. Did you enjoy family traditions and recipes, or embrace something new? As pumpkin spice everything ends, and hot chocolate and baked cookies for Santa begin, I wish you season’s greetings and a Merry Christmas filled with peace and happiness.
Your voices have been instrumental in shaping our community. Thank you for volunteering, supporting neighbors, and attending meetings, events, and our recent Energy Resource Fair. To those who testify before the Council on legislation and issues that matter to you, your engagement makes all the difference in ensuring our government truly reflects the needs of its people. I cordially invite you to attend or watch the Gavel Exchange on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. as we mark a critical moment in our county’s leadership and prepare for the work ahead in the new year. You can find information about how to view the Gavel Exchange below.
Let’s continue to work together, fostering a spirit of unity and progress. Please stay engaged by sharing your thoughts and connecting with your District 8 office. As we reflect on this season of giving, gratitude, and family and friends, I am reminded of the classic lines from ’Twas the Night Before Christmas: "The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there." Thank you for all you do to make our community thrive. Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season, and as the story concludes, “Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”
Sincerely,
 Council Member Edward Burroughs III

Honorary Commanders Program – AFDW is Seeking Community Leaders:
AFDW is looking for community leaders – or community leaders whom you would like to recommend – to be a part of the Joint Base Andrews or Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling Honorary Commanders Program. The program intends to pair base leadership with community leaders with limited or no knowledge about the Air Force. The program allows for frequent opportunities to become immersed in the mission, participate in base functions, and express views on issues of mutual concern. This is an excellent way for community leaders to understand the Joint Base Andrews or Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling mission better and build a partnership to help our communities plan for and move into the future. Please contact the AFDW Public Affairs Community Relations Chief, Miki Gilloon at miki.gilloon.3@us.af.mil.
