Honoring Our Women Veteran
Today, Saturday, August 26, from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., BD McKoy Nonprofit Training Center, 71 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd. Clinton, MD, will host the Honoring Our Women Veteran event. Council Members Sydney Harrison, Mel Franklin, and Calvin Hawkins will participate in the event. The free event will feature 250 dress giveaways, food, music, dancing, and resource services. The entire community is invited.
Police Division V and WSSC Police Community Bike Ride
On Saturday, September 9, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Police Division V, Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Police, and 360 Family Services will host a community bike ride. The ride will start at the Police Division V station, 6707 Groveton Dr. Clinton, MD.
Office of the Sheriff Explorer Program
The Office of the Sheriff Explorer Program provides youth, in grades 6-12, with an introduction to different careers in law enforcement, educational training, leadership opportunities, and community service activities. Parents and youths interested in learning about Explorer Post #1696, fun-filled, hands-on activities promoting growth and development, please register today, by scanning the QR code. Elderly Property Tax Credit

Commanders and Department of Parks and Rec Unite for Youth
Calling all young football fans! The Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County is collaborating with the Washington Commanders to bring flag football to local youth. The program was recently launched with a clinic at the Prince George’s Sports & Learning Complex, in Landover. It will continue with a flag football league from October 1 – November 12 for grades Pre-K through 8th. Registration is now open at www.commandersflag.com.
Annual Washington International Horse Show
Last October, the County hosted the 64th Annual Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), at The Show Place Arena, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center, in Upper Marlboro. The equestrian event was a collaboration with the Town of Upper Marlboro and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Department of Parks and Recreation. The seven-day event contributed a total of $9.85 million to the County’s local economy. The County is proud to announce the event is returning to The Show Place Arena, at Prince George’s Equestrian Center on October 23 - 29, 2023. MD 223 (Woodyard Road), from Victoria Drive to Sherwood Drive
MDOT Sidewalk Improvement Project
All work is performed emergencies, manpower, and progress permitting (equipment used for construction may be disruptive).
- In Progress: Contractor will begin installation of curb and gutter along MD 223 northbound
- In Progress: Installation of erosion and sediment (E&S) controls
Looking ahead:
- Installation of additional barrier wall
- Clearing and grubbing operations within project limits
Lane closures:
- Off-peak lane closures, weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Free Driver Education Scholarship
