Dear District 8 Neighbors and Friends,
On May 13, 2020, Governor Hogan announced the beginning of Stage One of the ‘Maryland Strong: Roadmap to Recovery plan. Effective May 15, 2020 at 5:00 pm, Governor Hogan is moving the Stay At Home order to a Safer At Home public health advisory. To read the full report, click Here.
Stage One of the plan, empowers individual jurisdictions to make decisions regarding the timing of their re-openings. Prince George's County Executive Alsobrooks and Montgomery County Executive Elrich have decided to remain under the Stay At Home order. This decision was made by both County Executives due to their jurisdictions not achieving the CDC metrics, which Governor Hogan originally referenced as well. D.C. and a few jurisdictions in Northern Virginia will also remain under the Stay At Home Order.
County Executive Alsobrooks held a Press Conference on May 14, 2020 to Bring COVID-19 Update and Path Forward. County Executive Alsobrooks stated that Prince George's County have not received critical resources to meet the metrics. Prince George's County Chief Health Officer Ernest Carter shared the Five Pillars that need to be in place to determine the county reopening. The Five Pillars are:
- Reduce the Curve
- Greater Healthcare Capacity
- Adequate COVID-19 Testing
- Contact Tracing
- Adequate PPE
