Rental Assistance Program

On Monday, May 11, Prince George’s County launched its Emergency Rental Assistance Program. The program will provide temporary rental and utility assistance, up to $1800 per month for three months. Households must meet the income eligibility requirements. The application process will open on Monday, May 11. District 9, Joint “Where Go We Go From Here?” Virtual Town Hall

On Thursday, May 14, from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., District 9 Council Member Sydney Harrison and At-Large Council Member Calvin Hawkins, jointly present "Where Do We Go From Here?" Virtual Town Hall.  Please join our distinguish panelists for an informative discussion, as well as questions and answers regarding "addressing the social determinants of health."

 

You are invited to join the virtual town hall, via Zoom, by registering in advance, on Register for "Where Do We Go From Here?" Virtual Town Hall.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the town hall and an important link to answer survey questions.  If you have "health disparities" or "social determinants of health" related questions you would like answered during the virtual town hall, please email them in advance, to GPKonohia@co.pg.md.us or ebbowman@co.pg.md.us. Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) News

On May 8, the Department of Parks and Recreation began distributing free leisure kits at the following locations: Marlow Heights, Oakcrest, and Glenarden Community Centers. Each kit includes fun items for kids, such as jump ropes, chalk, art kits, games, and much more! Residents can visit any of the locations, each Friday from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

 

The Department of Parks and Recreation recently announced that all traditional summer camps have been canceled and will be replaced by virtual programming. Classes and events scheduled for June have also been canceled. The MNCPPC’S golf courses and tennis courts will reopen soon. For additional details, please go to MNCPPC Information.

 

 

Maryland State Beaches

It is not yet time to go to the beach. The Governor’s stay-at-home order remains in effect, and residents must stay home except for essential activities. Maryland’s State beaches are open only for nearby residents, for exercise and fresh air. The beaches are not open for beachgoers.
