Farmers Market Opportunity
There is a wonderful program that provides matching dollars (doubles the value) for residents who make purchases with their federal food and nutrition benefits at participating farmers markets. It provides up to $10 extra per customer, per market, per week. This can really add up for families shopping with limited food budgets and is a helpful revenue stream for farmers.

For the month of August, the Maryland Farmers Market Association will double the match already given to shoppers using federal food and nutrition benefits at four farmers markets in Prince George’s County. Shoppers using SNAP/EBT and WIC at these farmers markets will get an additional $2 for every SNAP/WIC dollar spent on food, up to $20 per customer, per market, per week. For shoppers using their FMNP checks, they will receive an additional $2 for every FMNP dollar spent up to double the value of their entire FMNP checkbook.

The markets where this double match will be offered are:

The Central Market
Capitol Heights Blvd. & Faye Street
Fridays, 4:00pm - 8:00pm
June 7 - Sept 27

Cheverly Community Market
6401 Forest Road

Ribbon-Cutting for a Thriving Prince George's Business

k. neal

K. Neal Chairman Stephen Neal, County Council Member Jolene Ivey, K. Neal President Korey Neal, and Maryland Delegate Julian Ivey

This past Thursday, I was honored to attend the opening of the new state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, corporate headquarters and 16-bay service center at K. Neal Truck and Bus Center on Tuxedo Road. Chairman Stephen Neal and President Korey Neal are the father and son owners and operators of this thriving Prince George’s County business, the second-largest minority-owned commercial truck and bus dealership in the nation.

The new and expanded facility is part of a larger mixed-use development, an important contribution by the Neals to the growth and future prosperity of Prince George's County.

With about 100 employees and over $100 million in revenue during 2018, Stephen and Korey Neal were recently honored by the Washington Business Journal as the recipients of their 2019 Family-Owned Business Award.

Because the Neals understand the importance of reinvesting in our community, they chose to remain and build in Prince George's County. They, too, are Prince George’s Proud! They are committed to their employees, community, faith, and families, and we are blessed to have K. Neal Truck and Bus Center as neighbors and community leaders who are making a difference in Prince George’s County.
