PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY COUNCIL CONVENES SESSION ON WEDNESDAY; ADOPTS $3.6 BILLION FY 20 BUDGET

The Prince George’s County Council convened Council Session on Wednesday, May 29th. The Council adopted a $3.6 billion balanced County General Fund Budget for Fiscal Year 2020. The total County Budget for all funds is $4.3 billion. The FY 2020 County Budget becomes effective with the new Fiscal Year which begins July 1, 2019. WATCH the Council Budget Adoption session. COUNCIL PRESENTS PROCLAMATION TO CLERK OF THE COUNCIL REE FLOYD UPON RETIREMENT
The Prince George’s County Council honored Clerk of the Council Ree Floyd with a Council Proclamation at the close of her final Council session on May 29th. Ms. Floyd announced her retirement after serving 36 years with the Legislative Branch, including seventeen years as Clerk of the Council for Prince George’s County. Council Members, Council Administration, Legislative Branch staff, and the Council Hearing Room audience congratulated Ms. Floyd upon her retirement with a standing ovation and best wishes for a great future.
STATEMENT - COUNCIL CHAIR TODD M. TURNER ON THE PASSING OF PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY POLICE OFFICER DAVON MCKENZIE
The Prince George’s County Council mourns the untimely passing of 24-year-old County Police Officer Davon McKenzie, tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident while off duty Tuesday evening. We offer our prayers and deepest sympathies to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. We extend our condolences to his fellow officers in the Prince George’s County Police Department as well. Officer McKenzie, committed to the public safety or our residents, served as a member of the Prince George’s County Police Department for two years. Our residents are encouraged to please keep Officer McKenzie’s family, friends and fellow officers in your thoughts and prayers.

RESIDENTS ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND UPCOMING BOARD OF HEALTH TOWN HALL MEETING
Access to quality health care, health promotion and disease prevention are priority concerns for the Prince George’s County Council, in its role as the Board of Health, and for our residents. County residents are encouraged to join us on June 11th, for an important conversation about our County’s health and human service needs. Sign language and Spanish language translation will be available.

COUNCIL MEMBER DANNIELLE GLAROS JOINS COUNTY EXECUTIVE ANGELA ALSOBROOKS IN RIVERDALE PARK TO ANNOUNCE INVESTMENT IN THE MARYLAND MARKET MONEY PROGRAM
District 3 Council Member Dannielle Glaros joined County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks on Thursday, May 30th, at the Riverdale Park Farmers Market, to announce the expansion of the Maryland Market Money program. This expansion is made possible with funds approved in the current fiscal year’s budget, and in the FY 2020 Budget approved by the Council on Wednesday. The Maryland Money Market program allows County residents using SNAP, WIC, or FMNP benefits, to shop at select farmers markets and receive $5 or more per day in matching funds to spend on fresh produce. Four farmers markets are participating: Riverdale Park Farmers Market, Capitol Market (formerly Oakcrest) in Capitol Heights, Cheverly Community Market, and Greenbelt Farmers Market.

Prince George's County Council Members joined Prince Georgians in communities across the County on Monday, May 27th, Memorial Day, to honor members of our Armed Services who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and recognize all who serve, past and present.
