NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE ON MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY 2019
“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Prince George’s County Council honors the exemplary life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the lasting impact of his admirable contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and our nation. Dr. King devoted his life to advancing equality, social justice, and economic opportunity for all. He challenged us to build a more perfect union and encouraged our engagement in that process. In recognition of Dr. King’s legacy of service, the Council encourages every Prince Georgian to make this Monday, January 21st, “A DAY ON,” especially as federal workers and contractors and their families in our County, and across the nation, continue to be impacted by the ongoing Federal Government Shutdown. Consider recommitting to serve the needs of others for the common good of our communities throughout Prince George’s County.
