COUNCIL MEMBERS AMONG COUNTY LEADERS ACCEPTING COG CLIMATE AND ENERGY AWARD
Did you know that Prince George’s County is the number one producer of solar energy generation in Metropolitan Washington, and has reduced greenhouse emissions by 12-percent since 2005? This year, the County Government completed the installation of its largest solar canopy system at the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building in Largo. It generates enough electricity to power around 70 average size homes. This week, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) presented the Climate and Energy Leadership Awards to the Prince George’s County Sustainable Energy Program for outstanding efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions, increase energy efficiency, and advance regional goals established by COG leaders. COG Ciimate, Energy and Environment Policy Chair, Council Member Mary Lehman was among the presenters.
