LARGO, MDThe Prince George's County Government, in collaboration with the Prince George's Community College (PGCC), Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS), Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce, Maryland- National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and, the Greater Prince George's County Business Roundtable, seek enthusiastic and dedicated students to participate in the County's Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) for 2015.

As part of the County’s commitment to its youth, the Youth@Work/Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP) is offering a series of job readiness and life skill training workshops to prepare youth for the workforce through a partnership with Prince George’s Community College and Prince George’s County Public Schools.  The youth who successfully complete the job readiness training will have preference in selection for County positions.  Last year, over six hundred (600) youth voluntarily participated in these workshops.

“I am proud that once again, we will be able to provide our County’s youth with meaningful activities during summer 2015 and additionally provide job readiness workshops to help them prepare for employment as well as their future career options,” said Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker, III.  “We have found that in order for their summer experience to be meaningful, stimulating and gratifying, we must also fulfill our role as employers by not just being an outlet to earn extra cash. We must also create opportunities to educate and inspire them, while introducing them to potential mentors, and providing them with memories and lessons that last a lifetime.  Every summer, it is refreshing for me and all of our County employees to work with students assigned to our departments and agencies.  We look forward to their return and great contributions to their County government again this summer.”

The Youth@Work/SYEP Kick-Off is Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Prince George’s Community College, 505 Largo Road, Largo Student Center, Largo, Maryland at 10:00 a.m.  Public and private organizations, community and civic leaders, parents and youth will be in attendance!  Please join us for this exciting event!
