Volunteers needed for the Prince George's County Commission for Women

Are you a concerned citizen of Prince George’s County, Maryland?

Do you have a personal goal of improving the quality of life for the Prince George’s County community?

The Prince George’s County Commission for Women (PGC-CFW) consists of men and women who represent a cross-section of citizens living in Prince George’s County, and includes people of diverse economic, ethnic and vocational backgrounds. The PGC-CFW advises and counsels the residents of the County, the County Executive, the County Council and various departments of the County, State and Federal governments on matters involving the needs of women and on matters relating to discrimination and prejudice on the basis of sex. The PGCCFW recommends procedures, programs or legislation as it deems necessary and proper to promote and insure equal rights and opportunities for all women. The PGCCFW also organizes and supports numerous outreach initiatives for women and families in the County and the region. Issues that the PGC-CFW have recently addressed are:

• Education
• Health and Wellness
• Mental Health
• Domestic Violence and Human Trafficking
• Empowerment
• Serve as a Countywide resource for Prince George’s county women.

Volunteer Candidate Criteria

• Willing to attend monthly meetings and special events
• Desire to share ideas and collaborate on women’s issues
• Commitment to women’s issues
• Ability to engage in meaningful dialogue with elected officials and others to further women’s issues
  

All interested persons must be residents of Prince George’s County. Please submit:

• a resume
• letter of interest with 350 words or less highlighting your desire to serve
