Featuring Maryland 3000 and Clear the Shelters Events!
Dreaming of a new furry friend? Our August adoption events provide the perfect opportunity to find your new best friend. The joy you will receive from adopting a playful kitten, a devoted dog, or a gentle senior companion will create lasting memories.
Take part in one of our many August pet adoption events listed below.
Take Home a New Furry Friend
The Prince George's County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center (ASFAC) is joining NBCUniversal's Clear the Shelters campaign. Find your new furry family member or support with a donation through August 31. The fundraising continues until September 15.
NBCUniversal and Telemundo stations collaborate with local shelters and rescues to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. Since 2015, Clear The Shelters has helped nearly 1.2 million pets find homes and raised over $5 million for shelters and rescues. All adoption fees are waived.
Visit Clear The Shelters or DesocuparlosAlbergues.com for information on participating animal shelters and a schedule of local events.
Adoption Fees Waived Through August
ASFAC is thrilled to announce its participation in the highly anticipated return of the "Maryland 3,000" adoption challenge! Throughout the entire month of August, ASFAC will waive all adoption fees, making it easier than ever for community members to open their hearts and homes to a new companion.
Organized by the Baltimore Animal Welfare Alliance (BAWA), this heartwarming event unites animal shelters from across the state in a shared mission: finding thousands of Maryland’s shelter pets their forever families.

Preparing Your Pets for Summer Storms
Preparing for summer storms is crucial not only for your own safety but also for the well-being of your pet. Pets rely on us to keep them safe, calm, and protected when severe weather strikes.
By planning - gathering supplies, securing identification, and knowing where to go in case of evacuation - you ensure that your furry companion is not left vulnerable or frightened during an emergency.
The Humane World for Animals offers these preparedness tips:
- Make sure your pet is microchipped.
- Give a spare key to a trusted neighbor.
- Have a listing of hotels that allow pets.
- Make sure all of your vaccinations are up to date.
- Vacate early.

Pet Spotlight: Meet King!
The Royal Meatball - a Perfect Mix of Cuddly and Athletic
We have royalty in the house - meet King (A571631), a lovable pup that is built like a deluxe meatball but convinced he's an Olympic athlete.
His favorite game? Playing with YOU! King would much rather bounce around with his humans than fuss over toys.
He expects endless play bows and goofy zoomies, and he hands out kisses like they're part of his royal duties. King knows the command sit but excitement quickly takes over. He is agile, friendly, affectionate, and always ready to make you smile.
King is the perfect mix of goofy, cuddly, and athletic. If you've been searching for a happy little meatball who thinks every day is a party with his favorite people, your throne is waiting... and so is King!

What makes Brandy so wonderful - she is a quick learner who eagerly listens and responds to commands, always focused on her people. She loves exploring outdoors and, despite her curiosity, always checks in to stay close and connected.
Brandy is calm, polite, and friendly with other dogs, even in new situations. With her unique eyes and joyful spirit, she blends curiosity, good manners, and a playful heart.
Ready to meet your new best friend? Come see Brandy and let her brighten your day!
Please note: The shelter can be a stressful and scary place, and a dog’s behavior here may not fully reflect how they’ll blossom once they feel safe and decompressed at home.

Perla and Luna are in Foster Care
Ready for Adoption!
ASD is still seeking fosters to provide pets with a safe place to stay while they wait for adoption. Fostering is a short-term commitment that saves lives. If you are interested in fostering one of our shelter pets, email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us.
Foster Feature: Meet Perla
Perla (A567562) is a deeply loyal dog who forms strong bonds with her people. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your devoted companion, always wanting to be by your side.
Affectionate and people-focused, Perla is happiest when included in every part of your life. She’s treat-motivated, gentle, housetrained, and knows basic commands, though she can be distracted by new sights and sounds.
Perla loves long walks and plenty of space to run and play. She thrives with stability, structure, and lots of companionship. Perla would do best in a home without cats or small animals. Older children or teens are best due to her playful energy. She will be a devoted companion, giving her whole heart to the right person.
If you have room in your home for Perla (A567562) or any of our other lovable pets, or if you're interested in becoming a foster parent, please email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us.

Foster Feature: Meet Luna
Luna (A569323) is a striking tortie-calico-tabby-tuxedo with a loving personality to match her unique looks. After nurturing her own kittens and adopting two orphans in foster care, Luna is ready for her forever home. She’s affectionate, friendly, and will eagerly seek out cuddles and attention.
Just two years old, Luna is playful - especially with wand toys and pom poms and enjoys birdwatching from a sunny perch. She prefers to be the only cat, making her perfect for someone wanting a devoted, single feline companion. Whether you’re looking for a cuddly buddy or a playful friend, Luna is always ready to bring affection and joy to your home.
If you have room in your heart for Luna (A569323) or any of our other lovable shelter pets, or if you're interested in becoming a foster parent, please email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us.
