National Adopt A Shelter Pet is April 30, 2026!
It's National Volunteer Week!
 |
|
April is Earth Month, a time to reflect on how we care for our communities, animals, and environment. It is also a meaningful time to support and celebrate pets in our community, and spotlight the life-changing impact of pet adoption. As we celebrate sustainability and stewardship this month, National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30 reminds us that choosing adoption not only changes the life of an animal in need but also strengthens our community as a whole.

The Whisker Patrol Barn Cat Program, an innovative initiative that provides humane rodent control while allowing unsocialized shelter cats to thrive in safe outdoor environments, is now available in Prince George's County.
Barn cats are independent and not suited for indoor homes, but thrive outdoors in barns, farms, warehouses, and other properties. The Whisker Patrol program places them to control rodents, with property owners providing regular care.
To help support this program, we are also accepting new or gently used items for the cats, including:
- Large & XL dog crates
- Food & water bowls
