Over 200 seasoned county residents attended the Office of Community Relations (OCR) PGC311 Winter Forum for Seniors on Wednesday, December 10th. County agencies and resource providers shared important information, resources, tips, and reminders that seniors may find useful during the winter season. I would like to thank the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T), the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), Prince George’s County Fire & EMS (PGFD), the Department of Family Services (DFS), M-NCPPC, Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation, Interim State’s Attorney Tara Jackson, and WSSC for their support in the making this event so impactful. And, I want to express a special thank you to our event sponsors: Comcast, Andrews Federal Credit Union, and K&I Healthcare Services for providing a DoorDash/Uber Eats gift card to all the seniors who attended, making the event so much more special!

On December 6th, I joined the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), the First Baptist Church of Highland Park, Congressman Glenn Ivey, County Council At-large Member Calvin Hawkins, and other representatives from elected offices at a groundbreaking for “The Highlands”, the site of 137 new affordable senior housing units coming to Landover at the First Baptist Church of Highland Park. I want to express my sincere “thank you” to all of our dedicated partners on this important new project. We can’t wait to cut the ribbon on this new senior community!
