Thank You For Your Support!
In recognition of their dedication to animal welfare, the Animal Services Division (ASD) proudly announces that it has received an official proclamation from Prince George's County Executive, Aisha Braveboy, declaring the week of November 2nd through November 8th as National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week.
The proclamation commended ASD for its commitment to improving the lives of our shelter pets. And for increasing the "save rate" by over 20 percent in just two years, while also achieving, during the first quarter, the highest "save rate" in the shelter's history, over 86%.
This significant acknowledgment also highlights the tireless efforts of staff, volunteers, and supporters in providing compassionate care and finding loving homes for animals in our community.
We also recognize the dedicated individuals who work tirelessly behind the scenes, managing daily operations and ensuring that our furry friends receive the care they deserve. Their unwavering commitment and meticulous organization are vital to keeping everything running seamlessly, enabling us to fulfill our mission of finding loving homes for all our shelter pets.

To kick off this special week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our incredible team members — Assistant Kennel Manager, Janee Rhone!

November is recognized as National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, serving as a reminder to everyone to consider the benefits of adopting a senior dog or cat. These animals have an abundance of love to give and make wonderful companions.
Many people tend to focus on younger pets when considering adoption, but senior pets can easily fit into your lifestyle and offer many rewards. Adopting a senior pet can be a transformative experience for both you and the lucky cat or dog you welcome into your home.
Senior dogs often make the best pets because they are usually house-trained, require less attention, and have lower energy levels compared to puppies. This means they are less likely to engage in destructive chewing behavior.
Similarly, most senior cats are already litter box trained, tend to be much calmer, and are less curious and mischievous than kittens. Senior cats enjoy snuggling and can provide comfort, making them perfect housemates.
If you are interested in adopting a senior pet, visit www.princegeorgespets4us.com or call (301) 780-7200 to start the adoption process.Still willing to snuggle, senior cats can be comforting and make perfect housemates.
For a list of senior pets available for adoption, visit www.princegeorgespets4us.com. or call (301) 780-7200 to begin the adoption process.
