Yes, you read that right - 1.4+ MILLION POUNDS OF LITTER AND DEBRIS have been collected during the DPW&T Project Elevate Litter and Beautification Blitz so far! Since its launch, the initiative has made significant strides. From street sweeping to targeted maintenance and mowing, the initiative continues to deliver results across the County.

DPW&T also supports the work of Strike Force 311 under the Project Elevate umbrella. Strike Force 311 is a bold, focused effort to tackle the backlog of aged unresolved nuisance abatement complaints in the PGC311 system.
A special thank you to the DPW&T crews who go above and beyond every day to ELEVATE our communities.

This year’s Stuff the Bus proved, once again, that when our community comes together, big things happen. Thanks to the generosity of employees, partners, neighbors, and friends across the County, DPW&T packed TWO buses to the brim with backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and more – everything students need to start the school year strong. Every single supply collected, over 40,000, went directly to Prince George’s County students. From kindergartners discovering the joy of learning to high schoolers preparing for their next big steps, your donations made a real impact! We also want to extend a special thank you to our event sponsors who helped drive this effort forward. Stuff the Bus isn’t just about filling buses and bookbags – its about filling our classrooms with possibility, confidence, and hope. Here’s to another year of showing our students that Prince George’s County is behind them every step of the way.
DPW&T is taking a close look at the condition of County-maintained sidewalks in the public-right-of-way to assess and identify trip hazards, obstructions, and general damage that could impact usability. With a specialized trailer towed by an e-bike, the survey is underway and will continue through the end of the year. The effort will provide a detailed overview of the County’s sidewalk network, providing data needed to plan improvements and ensure safe, reliable infrastructure for everyone who walks, bikes, rides, or rolls through Prince George’s County.
Who says learning traffic safety can’t be fun? The DPW&T Traffic Engineering and Safety Division cut the ribbon on its second traffic garden at Dupont Heights Park in Hillcrest Heights on August 7. The innovative outdoor space is designed to educate and empower young cyclists and pedestrians, providing them with a recreation area to practice road safety. With driving lanes, colorful crosswalks, and miniature railroad crossings, the Traffic Garden turns safety lessons into an adventure. The new garden is more than paint on pavement, it’s an investment in the future. Teaching safe habits early paves the way for a generation of smart, responsible road users in Prince George’s County!
