Project Elevate, DPW&T’s Litter and Beautification Blitz introduced by County Executive Aisha Braveboy and DPW&T Director Michael Johnson, has just passed its first 30 days and is showing steady progress. Focused on five key service areas – mowing, litter removal, pothole repair, street sweeping, and tree trimming and stump removal – the initiative is making a visible difference in communities across the County. Crews have completed targeted cleanups in several hot spots and have collected over 500,000 pounds of litter and debris. This is only the beginning! Since launching Project Elevate, 850 Service Requests to PGC311 have been resolved, more than 7,000 miles of roadway have been serviced, and DPW&T crews continue to work through a prioritized list of locations to ensure every area receives attention.* Project Elevate is about more than clean streets; it’s about elevating communities and providing residents with the services they expect while keeping Prince George's County beautiful. Have you seen the Project Elevate crews in your community? Email DPWTfeedback@co.pg.md.us and let us know how we are doing.

Under County Executive Aisha Braveboy’s Project Elevate initiative, the DPW&T Office of Highway Maintenance has relaunched the Adopt-A-Roadway Program. With over 200 roads currently available, the program is a visible way for residents, civic groups, schools, and organizations to play a part in "elevating" Prince George's County. When you commit to adopting a stretch of roadway through the program, your organization’s name will be proudly displayed on a roadside sign along the adopted route. It’s a meaningful way to show community pride and make a lasting impact in the County. Together, we can make a difference!

Teamwork in action! The DPW&T Office of Storm Drain Maintenance partnered with the Town of Capitol Heights to clean storm drains and repair storm water infrastructure - paving the way for the Boy Scouts to “Elevate” our County with fresh paint and stenciling! A great example of community, collaboration, and care for our environment! Kudos for a job very well done!
The Office of Transportation has successfully completed a round of transit charging station construction. The project has passed inspection and the chargers are fully commissioned and operational. The last step – installation of protective bollards to ensure safety and security for the maintenance team – is currently underway. The new charging station will provide convenient, clean energy access for transit vehicles, supporting sustainable transportation efforts in the County.
Representatives from the DPW&T Office of Transportation, attended the 54th Annual Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) National Meeting and Training Conference July 12 - July 15, in New York City. The conference provided valuable opportunities to tour local transit systems, engage in professional development workshops, and explore emerging topics including, but not limited to leadership, artificial intelligence, and innovation in transportation. Maryland also made a strong showing as COMTO's MD Advisory Board member, Meshelle Howard, received the Thomas G. Newsome Founders Leadership Award, reserved for those who exemplify the same vision, drive, and leadership as COMTO’s founders.
The Office of Transportation teamed up with NASA-Greenbelt and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG) to host a Lunch and Learn session highlighting new transit options available to employees. Staff provided information on RideSmart/Transit Demand Management (TDM) programs, including Commuter Cash, which rewards individuals for choosing sustainable travel options. Better Bus Network Redesign (BBNR) literature was also distributed, where employees learned about how the redesign impacts commuting in Prince George's County.
