Prince George’s County Secures Over $183 Million in State Capital Funding

Dear Prince Georgians,

We are proud to share exciting news from Annapolis! Last week, the 2025 Maryland General Assembly session officially concluded, and thanks to our strong and strategic advocacy, Prince George’s County is bringing home over $183 million in state capital funding.

As we do each year, we went to Annapolis with a clear vision, which was to fight for healthcare access, invest in our schools, create economic opportunity, and protect working families, and I am proud to say we are bringing home the resources to do just that.

This is a major victory for Prince Georgians, and a testament to what we can accomplish when we stay focused on the priorities that matter most: healthcare access, world-class schools, vibrant communities, and economic opportunity for all.

Healthcare Investments:

We fought to ensure Prince Georgians can access high-quality care, close to home. Key wins include:

  • $20M – New Obstetrical Care Tower at Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center
  • $10M – Infrastructure improvements at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center
  • $5M – New Adventist HealthCare facility in Fort Washington
  • $2.9M – New Ritchie Station Health Center by Greater Baden Medical Services
  • $130,000 – Apheresis Machine at University of Maryland Capital Region Health
  • $100,000 – New Urology Suite and Operating Room at MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center

Education and Youth Investments:

We are investing in the next generation with funding to build and improve learning spaces:

  • $33M – Prince George’s County Public Schools
  • Construction Program to support improvements at 13 schools, the replacement of Suitland High, and the new Northern Adelphi High and Cool Spring Elementary Schools
  • $11.4M – Prince George’s Community College Marlboro Hall renovations
  • $376,000 – Prince George’s Community College Facilities Renewal Grants

Economic Revitalization and Infrastructure: A Bold Vision in Action:

State capital funds will power transformative projects across the County:

  • $6.2M –Bowie Race Course Training Center Property and Rosecroft Raceway revitalization
  • $5M – College Park Airport improvements
  • $1M – Affordable Housing near Glenridge Purple Line Station
  • $3M – Blue Line Corridor “210 on the Park” project

Fighting for Fairness: Protecting Working Families from Tax Hikes

We also successfully fought to amend the State’s new income tax plan to preserve itemization for residents making under $200,000 annually. This critical change protects thousands of County households who were initially projected to face the second highest rate of tax increases under the original proposal. We know that too often, working families bear the brunt of policy decisions made far from home and this fix ensures middle-class Prince Georgians can keep more of what they earn.

These hard-won investments are not just numbers, but represent real change, real impact, and real opportunities for residents across our County as we work to build a more connected, inclusive, and prosperous Prince George’s County.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue delivering for you.

Yours in service,

Tara H. Jackson
