Every year, your Department of the Environment (DoE) celebrates "Earth Day Every Day" throughout the month in celebration of Earth Day on April 22!
This month, DoE will use its"Power of Being Green" to host events that care for our environment and provide opportunities to shred documents, properly dispose of household hazardous materials, provide free mulch, care for pets and much more. In addition, DoE will celebrate "Growing Green With Pride" Community Cleanup Day.

Share your Furry Family "Fotos"
In honor of Adopt a Shelter Pet Day on April 30, we want to showcase all the furry, feathery, and scaly pets that have been rescued from a shelter to promote the importance of adopting.
Throughout the month of April, post a cute or funny picture of your four or two-legged family member, with the hashtags #PGCEarthDayEveryDay AND #AdoptDontShop.

Our Animal Services Division (ASD) is looking for volunteers to help walk and socialize dogs, play with cats, assist with feeding animals, cleaning, office work, and other tasks.

Mulch Madness

Organics Composting Facility in Upper Marlboro
We are happy to announce that the Mulch Madness giveaway event is back! Prince George's County residents can pick up FREE mulch from the County Organics Composting Facility while supplies last. Mulch for this source reduction event is derived from live holiday trees collected curbside and dropped off throughout January. A skid loader will be available to load mulch directly into pickup trucks (no commercial vehicles). Residents transporting mulch by car must bring their containers, shovels, or pitchforks.
