Prince George’s County Winter Storm Transportation and Road Status Update – February 11, 2025
Forestville, MD - The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) released the following updates regarding snow removal and transportation services:
Storm Forecast: AccuWeather predicts snow in the area will taper off after midnight. Accumulations between 3-6” are expected. Temperatures will be between 32 and 34 degrees, with overnight lows around freezing. The heaviest snowfall, up to 1 inch per hour, is expected to occur Tuesday night with impactful precipitation ending by 9 AM on Wednesday.
Road Conditions: Primary roadways were brined before the snowfall. Crews have pre-treated residential areas, including problematic locations, hills, icy areas, and bridges as needed. There is currently minimal accumulation, with totals expected to increase.
Snow Removal Update:
- Additional resources have been dispatched to assist with residential roadway treatments.
- Plows will move into residential areas as resources allow.
- Salt utilized as of February 11, 2025, is 618 tons.
- DPW&T has dispatched 177 vehicles (plows, salt trucks, and other heavy equipment)
Information for Residents Regarding Plowing and Roads:
- Residents are asked to move cars from the streets to a driveway or other off-road location so that crews can effectively clear the roadways.
- DPW&T will begin plowing operations when snow accumulation reaches 2”.
- Residential streets are plowed as passable; however, roads may still be covered with snow or ice.
- Driveways and mailboxes may have snow in front of them as a result of the plowing operation.
- Residents are reminded to shovel their driveways after plowing has occurred and to remove snow/ice from the sidewalks abutting their homes and businesses.
Snow Removal Requests/PGC311:
- To avoid long wait times, residents are encouraged to submit their snow removal request online 48 hours after the snowfall has stopped.
- To submit an online request, go to PGC311.com and click “Submit Request for Snow Removal” at the top of the page.
- PGC311 will operate from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Residents can contact PGC311 for questions related to County Government operations and services or visit the County website at: mypgc.us
Transportation: TheBus will operate as scheduled on Tuesday, February 11. Call-A-Bus will operate dialysis and medical trips only.
