Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation Inclement Weather Alert
DPW&T vehicles will mobilize at 5:00 AM to monitor and address roadway conditions
The National Weather Service forecasts a weather system moving through our area on Thursday morning, December 5th between 5:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Key details are as follows:
- Temperatures: Mid-30s to low-40s.
- Precipitation: 56% chance, starting as rain with the potential for snow showers.
- Visibility: May be reduced due to strong winds accompanying the system.
- Road Conditions: Road temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, making significant roadway accumulation unlikely.
The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) will continue to monitor the weather overnight. Vehicles will be mobilized at 5:00 AM to monitor and address bridge decks and elevated surfaces, which are more prone to freezing. Crews will remain on standby to handle any additional roadway concerns.
Residents are encouraged to exercise caution during the morning commute, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
