Prince George's Proud: An Update From County Executive Alsobrooks
Dear Prince Georgians:
Over the past couple of years, we have been working hard to modernize and streamline our curbside waste collection services. We made improvements to our bulky trash collection system that aligned with our efforts to combat illegally dumped items in our communities, neighborhoods, and environment, and we are excited to announce even more updates to our Clear the Curb waste collection services.
Beginning this week (the week of July 1), our Clear the Curb waste collection services are expanding for residents receiving County-contracted trash and recycling pickup. With this expansion, residents can now place up to four bulky trash items or four large trash bags with household items out with their regular trash per week. Examples of smaller household items include knick-knacks, home décor, and small kitchen appliances (toaster ovens, blenders, air fryers, crock pots). As a reminder, white good items, which include large appliances like refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washing machines, etc. will be accepted by appointment only through PGC311.
The expansion of services also introduces monthly curbside scrap metal and electronics recycling appointments. The new curbside scrap metal and electronics recycling collection will be offered by appointment only on the third Monday of each month. The first day of service begins Monday, July 15, and pickups can be scheduled online or by contacting PGC311. Residents can start scheduling pickups beginning Monday, July 1.
It is important for residents to know that to implement these new curbside collection services, some will experience a change in their current trash and recycling collection day. Residents should verify their waste collection day here by entering a household address in the search bar. If a new collection day has been assigned, it will be noted along with the day of other waste collection services.
For more information, visit the Department of the Environment website here or contact PGC311.
