Prince George's County Moves Closer to Clean Energy with Arrival of B100 Biodiesel Tank
 |
The B100 Biodiesel project has officially launched! This ongoing initiative, spearheaded by the Prince George's County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) in partnership with the Office of Central Services (OCS), will create a more sustainable future for Prince George's County by promoting cleaner transit options while fostering a healthier and more equitable environment for all residents. The B100 Biodiesel project will transition a percentage of the County's fleet from diesel fuel to B100 by utilizing the Optimus Vector System. This advanced fuel system upgrade will power buses with B100 biodiesel, reducing bus carbon emissions by more than 75%. Prince George's County is the first government to implement this type of technology for bus transit services, essentially setting the standard for neighboring counties and cities. With support from the Maryland Energy Administration's (MEA) OPEN grant program, this initiative aims to significantly cut greenhouse gas emissions and advance equitable transit solutions for underserved communities.
