PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY CONTINUES UPWARD PROGRESS IN TRANSIT DEVELOPMENT AS SPRING SERVICE CHANGES COMMENCE FOR COMMUTERS

 

LARGO, MD – The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is announcing the next phase of Prince George’s County’s Transit Transformation (PGC TT).  The upcoming Spring Service Change is designed to elevate customer experience and meet the evolving needs of our community through improved connectivity, expanded service, and better performance for our Microtransit services, including TheBus. 

Key highlights of the Spring Service Change include:

  • Schedule Adjustments: Routes 15X and 21X 
  • Route Path Adjustments: Route 28 
  • Layover Adjustments: Routes 11 and 26 
  • Service Extensions: Routes 30, 33, 36, and 37 
  • New Routes: Routes 27(Landover to Largo) and Route 61 (Laurel to Greenbelt)

DPW&T aims to reach more areas within our community equitably, enhancing the frequency of service and making our transit system more convenient and user-friendly. Examples of these improvements include the introduction of Route 27 and Route 61, linking Landover to Largo and Laurel to Greenbelt.

 

Additionally, wait times will be reduced to accommodate peak hours of TheBus. DPW&T will increase the frequency of select routes to provide more convenience to our riders, optimizing transfer points and routes. This results in enhanced connectivity between different modes of transportation while making it easier for passengers to reach their destinations safely and on-time.

 

By increasing service capacity, DPW&T aims to meet the rapid demand for safe, reliable public transportation while also accommodating shifting commuter habits and revitalizing community mobility. As the County adapts to the changing needs of its ridership, it remains dedicated to delivering efficient and sustainable transit solutions that empower individuals and strengthen Prince George’s County.
