Prince George's County, Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) will be hosting the Spring 2023 Growing Green with Pride cleanup event on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. It is not too late to participate! Please join DPW&T, neighbors, and Community Partners' for a day of countywide beautification. You are invited to help us keep Prince George’s County clean and beautiful by picking up roadside litter and removing illegal dumping. Use the QR code or the link below to register. DPW&T staff joined Director Johnson at the County Executive's State of the County: FY24 Budget Address event on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at the University of Maryland College Alumni Center, where County Executive Angela Alsobrooks discussed the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year. We are Prince George's Proud to have been invited to participate in this event and provide informational pamphlets and swag bags to attendees.

Zero-Emission Buses
By 2035, 70% of DPW&T’s transit fleet will convert to zero-emission buses. From cleaner air to quieter neighborhoods, the benefits of zero-emission buses (ZEBs) will make this innovative transition an easy choice for The County. 23rd Annual Bowie Baysox Free Family FunFest Event
DPW&T’s Office of Transportation went out to support the city of Bowie and the Bowie Baysox baseball team for their annual family fun event on Saturday, March 25, 2023. This event is meant to promote the local businesses and organizations around the County and give families an opportunity to purchase single game tickets for all 69 home games during the Baysox 2023 season. This is the first day single game tickets can be purchased online at www.baysox.com or by phone for all 2023 home games. Representatives from the Office of Transportation had a great time interacting with patrons and informing them about RideSmart, VisionZero, and DPW&T Highlights. Thank you again to the Bowie Baysox baseball team for partnering with us and continuing to be a highlight in our community.

Pedestrian Road Safety Audits
DPW&T Office of Engineering and Project Management (OEPM) facilitated two Pedestrian Road Safety Audit (PRSA) reviews this month. The PRSAs included in this study are two (2) county-maintained roadway segments, Brooks Drive (From Silver Hill Road/MD 458 to Marlboro Pike) and Wheeler Road (From Southern Avenue to Iverson Street). The PRSAs are an opportunity to improve safety and mobility for pedestrian traffic throughout the County. The team will review their findings in the coming weeks and provide countermeasures to improve conditions on County roadways.

DPW&T will host a Bike to Work Day Pit Stop at the Largo/Kettering/Perrywood Community Center in Upper Marlboro, MD on Friday, May 19, 2023, in partnership with M-NCPPC and the Prince George’s County Bicycle & Pedestrian Safety Community Advisory Group. This year, there are 100 Bike to Work Day Pit Stops planned in MD, DC and VA and 10 Bike to Work Day Pit Stops planned in Prince George's County. Join us for a fun morning of cycling on Bike to Work Day. Be sure to register today at BIKE TO WORK DAY to receive a free t-shirt!

DPW&T's Office of Storm Drain Maintenance (OSDM) Right Tree Right Place (RTRP) program works closely with homeowners' and civic associations, as well as the Prince George's County Council. For the year of 2023 our team has planted 8,248 trees.
