Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dear Prince Georgians:
Today, we are proud to join the nation in honoring the life and legacy of one of our most powerful civil rights icons and leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King has undoubtedly made significant contributions to our society and our nation, and we take this time each year to celebrate and acknowledge his achievements in the fight for equality and justice.
As we celebrate Dr. King’s legacy, let us honor the values that he worked so hard to instill in our nation such as courage, hope, justice, compassion, dignity, and service to others. Dr. King once said, “The time is always right to do what is right.” His words should encourage us to continue to work to instill these same important values in ourselves and within our communities. It is a reminder to come together to support one another with kindness and love and to embrace all that we have to offer each other through the work we do in our communities every day.
We encourage all Prince Georgians to use this day of service to do something positive within your communities. Let us all do our part to build upon his legacy of creating a more equitable and just society for all.
