Prince George's County Community Policing Week Recap
Dear Prince Georgians,
Last week we celebrated Community Policing Week in Prince George’s County! Our County is home to the fourth largest law enforcement agency in the State of Maryland, and we were proud to recognize and thank our police officers and civilian employees for their commitment to serving the nearly one million residents who call Prince George’s County home.
In July 2020, we established the Police Reform Work Group to guide our police reform efforts and help us create a police department that can be a model for the nation. We are excited to share that our Police Department has been making tremendous progress in the implementation of many of the reform recommendations, including those in the area of community engagement. During Community Policing Week, we highlighted our Police Department’s efforts to engage with our community.
Through various community-driven programs and initiatives, our Police Department works tirelessly to positively engage with our residents. We recognize the importance of fostering positive relationships between our police officers and those that call our County home and are committed to continuing our efforts to further strengthen these relationships within our communities. Various highlights from Community Policing Week are included further below in this newsletter.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Prince Georgians for coming together for yet another successful National Night Out. Last week, we joined communities across the country to celebrate this annual effort, which strengthens and promotes community policing. It is always exciting to see so many Prince Georgians come out and participate in an evening of family-friendly fun. We know that if we continue to foster positive relationships with our Police Department, we will build strong and safe communities that will thrive for generations to come.

Community Policing Week Kick Off
 Chief Aziz helped us kick off Community Policing Week in Prince George’s County. The week was spent highlighting the various ways our Police Department works to engage the community. Check out this message from Chief Aziz.
Community Oriented Policing Services
 The Police Department works to foster positive relationships between residents and police officers through their Community Engagement Teams that are housed within each police district. This helps the County’s police officers better serve our community and is a part of our efforts to create a police department that is a model for the nation. Community Programs
 The Police Department works to engage County youth through various programs and initiatives. These programs provide an opportunity for youth to positively interact with the Police Department in a non-law enforcement capacity.
