DPW&T is grateful for the heroic efforts of TheBus Operator Jamie Holloway, Dispatcher Nikki Swinson, and Road Supervisor Ronda Campbell in identifying and aiding a missing young lady presumed to be trafficked. Due to Jamie’s, Nikki’s, and Ronda’s sharp-witted and diligent team work, the young victim was returned to the custody of her mother and the police.
Thank you, Jamie, Ronda, and Nikki for an outstanding job and for going above and beyond your duty to aide this young lady. As front line workers we are tasked with critical situations that call for the imperative skillset that these ladies have displayed!

The Marlboro Pike Pedestrian Safety Improvements, Phase 1 CIP project represents the first phase in proposed critical safety improvements along the Marlboro Pike corridor. This corridor was selected by DPW&T to address the high incidence of pedestrian crashes along this roadway in the recent past. Pedestrian Safety improvements include a road diet that converts the existing 4-lane roadway to a 2-lane roadway with bike lane/shoulders and turning lanes to improve overall pedestrian, bicyclist, transit and driver safety. The project also includes ADA upgrades to all pedestrian facilities, crosswalks and traffic signals and includes LED street lighting installation. Phase 1 includes Marlboro Pike from Southern Avenue to Silver Hill Road (MD 458) for an approximate length of 4400 feet.

DPW&T and RideSmart had the pleasure of attending the Bowie Baysox's game on Saturday June 18, 2022. Our RideSmart program manager had a table set up with great giveaways and information on commuter benefits for attendees. The game announcer read out RideSmart taglines several times throughout the event, and they also displayed the banner and logo on the digital screen during the fireworks presentation. The Bowie Baysox announcer ended the night with the crowd yelling “Thank you, RideSmart!." The event had a great turn out with over 200 County employees and their family members attending.
