Street Smart Shattered Lives Wall, Largo MVA and Tanger Outlets
Join us on May 5-6 at the Largo Motor Vehicle Administration Office for the Street Smart "Lives Shatter on Impact" Testimonial Wall. Come view the testimonies, talk to traffic safety specialists, take the safety pledge and you will be eligible to win prizes.
On May 14, the Testimonial Wall will be at the Tanger Outlets in Oxon Hill from 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Learn more about the Street Smart Campaign.

MDOT SHA and DPW&T Litter Blitz Coordination
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) District 3 Laurel Shop and Upper Marlboro Shop partnered with the County Executive’s Office and DPW&T on coordinated litter blitzes in the County.
Roadside maintenance is critical to road safety by removing debris which blocks visibility and other potential hazards.
MDOT maintenance crews rotate picking up litter on a regular basis.

Repaving Completed on Marlboro Ridge Road and Bridle Ridge Road in Upper Marlboro
DPW&T completed yellow centerline striping of Marlboro Ridge Road and Bridle Ridge Road in Upper Marlboro—the final item of the repaving work in the community. Three speed humps and one raised crosswalk were also added to Marlboro Ridge Road and Bridle Ridge Road.

Vision Zero Youth Ambassador Program
The National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) is conducting a Vision Zero Youth Ambassador Program for young people to champion traffic safety efforts and equip them with skills to produce projects on traffic safety, such as social media campaigns, letters to elected officials, and school assemblies. We shared projects, initiatives, and traffic safety tips as well as conducted a risky driving focus group with the Youth Ambassadors at their virtual training sessions on April 16 and 23. Vision Zero Prince George’s will continue to the support the Youth Ambassadors’ projects through the end of the program.

She Rides Too Bike Clinic, Clinton
DPW&T, along with staff from the MDOT MVA Highway Safety Office, attended the She Rides Too Bike Clinic on April 16 and shared bicycle, pedestrian, traffic safety and Vision Zero Prince George’s information and giveaways with the community. The event was a great success with over 60 children and adults in attendance.

2022 Maryland Highway Safety Summit, Linthicum Heights
On April 18, traffic safety professionals from across the state gathered for the 2022 Maryland Highway Safety Summit to discuss traffic safety initiatives and move the state forward in our goal of zero traffic deaths. The summit focused on the Safe System approach and featured a powerful keynote presentation from Mike Pitcher on “The 7 Elements of Leadership” and a variety of breakout sessions on impaired driving, aggressive driving, occupant protection, distracted driving, and protecting our most vulnerable road users, people who walk, bike and use transit. MDOT also released the official numbers for 2021 statewide traffic fatalities (557 including 129 pedestrians and 6 bicyclists) during a live-streamed press event. Read the press release.
