Vaccination Update

Dear Prince Georgians,

  • The Prince George’s County Health Department and Office of Emergency Management recently announced the following updates to COVID-19 vaccination and testing locations in the County:
    • County-operated COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics
      • The mass vaccination clinic at the Wayne K. Curry Sports and Learning Complex will close after Friday, April 8.
    • County-operated COVID-19 Testing Sites
      • The Temple Hills Community Center will no longer offer COVID-19 testing services after Friday, March 25.
    • State-operated COVID-19 Testing Sites
      • The University of Maryland Laurel Hospital public testing site closed on Friday, March 11.
      • The Doctors Community Hospital/Washington Education Zone testing site in Lanham closed on Thursday, March 17.
  • The County continues to operate and support free COVID-19 testing sites at the Bunker Hill Fire Station in Brentwood, the First United Methodist Church in Hyattsville, and the Roseu Medical Center in Laurel.
  • The Health Department highly encourages residents 5 and older to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible and to get tested if they have symptoms or have been exposed to COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status. In addition, residents that are eligible for a booster shot should get one as soon as possible.
  • For more information or updates about COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, including a complete list of clinics operating in the County and the State of Maryland, visit the Health Department’s website here.
  • The Prince George’s County Health Department and the Office of Emergency Management continue to distribute at-home rapid COVID-19 test kits and adult sized KN95 masks at designated locations each week, in partnership with the Prince George’s County Memorial Library System (PGCMLS) and the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC).
    • Two test kits and/or two masks will be distributed per person ages 2 years or older present at the time of pick-up. The test kits and masks are free, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Residents will be required to show proof of County residency to receive a test kit or mask. Examples of proof of residency include, but are not limited to, a driver’s license, utility bill, or lease agreement.

Vaccine Supply & Administration

  • The County Health Department has provided over 221,000 vaccinations, including more than 300 during the first half of March.
  • During the first half of March, our mobile units have provided over 500 vaccinations in the community.
  • Nearly 50 initial pediatric doses for ages 5 to 11 years and 200 second pediatric doses were given to County residents during the first half of March. In addition, over 500 additional or booster doses were provided during the first half of March.

While the County Health Department now operates only one standing vaccination clinic in the County, in addition to nine mobile vaccination units, there are a number of vaccination sites available in Prince George’s County that are not operated by the County. Please remember that we do not manage nor control appointments or distribution for any sites besides those operated by our County Health Department.

  • Locations: Sports and Learning Complex and Mobile Vaccination Units
  • Appointments: Individuals who live or work in Prince George’s County should visit mypgc.us/COVIDVaccine to view clinic hours or schedule an appointment directly. Individuals who cannot schedule an appointment online on their own should call PGC311 and press # for assistance.

Progress Toward Vaccination Goals

COVID Percentage
  • Over 1,477,300 vaccinations have been provided to 663,863 County residents, including 550,118 second doses and 267,483 additional doses.
  • As of March 21, the CDC has reported 95% of adults ages 18 and older have received at least one vaccination in the County, and 82.8% are fully vaccinated.
  • When including all residents ages 5 and older, 92.8% of residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 78.3% are fully vaccinated.  
  • The CDC reports 45.8% of residents ages 18 and older who are fully vaccinated have received a booster or additional dose as of March 21.
  • Approximately 31.3% of County residents ages 5 to 9 years and 60.6% of County residents ages 10 to 19 years are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
