As we close out the year, the Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) would like to thank County Executive Angela Alsobrooks for her leadership and our Federal, State, and local partners for their support and investments in Prince George’s County. On December 13, 2021 Vice President Kamala Harris, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm, National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, and Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen came to Prince George’s County for a tour of the County’s new Brandywine Maintenance Facility and briefing on the electric vehicle program. DPW&T Acting Director, Martin Harris provided a briefing on the County’s electric vehicle program during the tour. To the men and women of DPW&T (some pictured above), thank you for your tireless work behind the scenes in preparation of the visit.

In addition to the electric vehicle investments, the new 22,000 square foot Brandywine Maintenance Facility was on full display with features that include a versatile mechanics station, efficient wash bay, staff quarters and smart storage areas. This new facility will transform DPW&T’s ability to execute year-round road maintenance projects and snow operations in the southern portion of Prince George’s County.
Although, we are in the winter season and on standby for our first snow, litter continues to be collected on our roadways. DPW&T would like to thank our State partners, MDOT State Highway Administration (SHA) for participating in another litter blitz. The recent litter blitz was conducted on State and County roads as part of the County’s sustained effort to eradicate litter. We are #PrinceGeorgesProud that 2 million pounds of litter have been collected thus far in 2021, on roads in the County. You can partner with us as well, by reporting litter or illegal dumping to 311.

Special thanks to you, our Community Partners and to all that were able to attend the Winter Community Partners’ meeting. If you were unable to attend the meeting, please see the link below. You are our eyes, ears and pulse that assist DPW&T in providing services for Prince Georgians. We hope that you remain well and safe!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
