Prince George’s County Announces Capture of Zebras Roaming At Large

Largo, MD - The Prince George’s County Animal Services Facility and Adoption Center (ASFAC) has been notified that the two zebras roaming at large in Upper Marlboro and the surrounding areas in Southern Prince George's County have returned to the herd. After communication with the zebra’s property owner and caretaker, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) notified ASFAC on Monday, December 13, 2021, that the zebras had returned to the herd last week. Neither the USDA nor ASFAC was involved in the direct capture of the zebras.

The County will continue its ongoing investigation and will continue taking appropriate legal action regarding the alleged violations of the Prince George’s County Animal Control Ordinance, Subtitle 3 of the County Code. The County’s Animal Control Officers will work with the County State's Attorney's Office to carry these charges through the court system.
