Join Us for a Job and Resource Fair on November 2

Dear Prince Georgians:

Over the past year, our community has been plagued with an increase in crime and acts of violence, impacting far too many Prince Georgians and their families. We know that this is happening in communities across the nation, and I want to assure you that your County Government has been stepping up to address these issues in many ways. We have increased youth programming, worked to expand mental health and addiction care services, and our Police Department launched a Gun Intelligence Unit to ensure those committing acts of gun violence can be taken off our streets.

However, we know there is still more we can do, and we are continuing to step up our efforts. That’s why we are hosting a Job and Resource Fair in collaboration with Employ Prince George’s on Tuesday, November 2, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at City of Praise Family Ministries. We want to thank Employ Prince George’s for helping organize this job fair, as well as Bishop Joel Peebles, Pastor Ylawnda Peebles and City of Praise Family Ministries for providing a space for this important event.

This job fair will allow us to bring resources into the community to help those most in need, offering Prince Georgians access to job opportunities, a legal clinic, and many other community resources that benefit our residents. We will have a variety of employers looking to hire as well as plenty of resource tables from the County Government and community partners. Our goal is to provide meaningful opportunities that launch careers and build brighter futures for all Prince Georgians.

Some of the employers we will have on-site include:

  • Amazon
  • Goodwill of Greater Washington
  • CloudForce (Information Technology)
  • Prince George’s County Department of Corrections
  • Melwood (Disability Services)
  • The Denney House (Community Outreach)
  • Potomac Hospitality Group (Food and Beverage, Hospitality)

Our resource partners include:

  • Maryland Legal Aid
  • Prince George’s Community College
  • Maryland Department of Labor
  • Job Corps
  • Eckerd Connects (Workforce Development)
  • Prince George’s County Department of Family Services
  • Prince George’s County Department of Social Services
  • Prince George’s County Department of Housing and Community Development

While we believe that these efforts will help us make a difference, what we know is the County Government cannot tackle issues of crime and violence alone. This is a community effort, and I’m Prince George’s Proud that we have such an amazing community here in our County. We are asking every Prince Georgian to remain engaged, and to step up and help us in these efforts. If you need a job or other resources, please register to attend this Job and Resource Fair. If you know someone who may benefit from this event, please share this information with them so they can take advantage of this opportunity.

Prince Georgians know how to come together as a community, and I want to thank you for staying strong and resilient through every challenge that we face.

Yours in service,
Angela Alsobrooks
Prince George’s County Executive
