The Class of 2021 Edition

Students everywhere have continued to show resilience during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year some students were able to participate in traditional graduation ceremonies and others had to participate virtually as we continue to contend with the pandemic and keep health and safety at top of mind.

Students, especially high school graduates, did not have the opportunity to participate in so many senior year rites of passage. We want to acknowledge their experiences but remind them that the best is yet to come! We are celebrating these milestone accomplishments with our DPW&T family by highlighting their Class of 2021 graduates. We are Prince George's Proud of all our graduates, including those not featured!

Meet the Graduates!

Carrie R. Best  Daughter of Jeannette Kelso School – Southern New Hampshire University Carrie earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a concentration in Forensic Accounting & Fraud Examination. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.7 and plans to pursue a second Bachelor of Science in Finance.

Christopher Bratton Son of Jennifer Bratton School – Prince George’s Community College Christopher earned his Associate degree in Cybersecurity and is transferring to the University of Maryland College Park this fall to pursue his Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity.

Jerome Xavier Carroll Son of Jerome Bratton School – Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr.  High School   Jerome is a Marine Poolee with United States Marine Corps Recruiting Center in Waldorf, MD, training for boot camp in November. He hopes to pursue a career in the criminal justice field, specifically forensics.

Orlando Jones, III Godson of Paula Buckner School – Celebration High School Orlando graduated with honors and will attend Valencia college in Orlando, Florida.

William Joseph Son of Dwight Joseph School – Pikesville High School William will attend North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, where he will study Architectural Engineering.

Desiree & Courtney Lawyer Daughters of Marsha Wilson School – Charles Herbert Flowers High School Desiree (pictured left) was a varsity cheerleader and will be joining the United Stated Air Force. Courtney (pictured right) was a varsity cheerleader, member of the track team and will attend Bowie State University in the fall.

Tommy Mazzara Son of Kate Mazzara School – DeMatha Catholic High School  Tommy was a member of the varsity prep ice hockey team and hopes to continue to play in college. He will be attending West Virginia University.

Tony L. McKinney, II Son of Elizabeth McKinney School – Pennsylvania State University  Tony earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts and received merit awards for art during his studies. He looks forward to finding a job in his field of study.

Tymaija Nell Daughter of Maleika Matthews School – Suitland High School Tymaija studied at Suitland's Center for the Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA), a rigorous four-year arts program, as well as the school's Career, Technical and Education (CTE) Cosmetology program. She also participated in Navy JROTC and was a member of the modeling team and the junior varsity basketball team. Tymaija will attend Morgan State University, where she will study Business Administration as a member of the Honors College.
