Memorial Day waste collection 2021

County Government offices, with the exception of public safety agencies, will be closed on Monday, May 31st, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

Curbside collection of yard trim will be suspended Monday, May 31st, to observe the holiday, and will resume Monday, June 7th.  Trash and recycling collections remain on a regular schedule for residents receiving County provided services. Opt-In to Participate in the Food Scraps Composting Program

Did you know an estimated 1.3 billion tons of food are wasted globally each year? Let’s avoid food waste and turn our organic leftovers into a rich and nutritious compost. Use the postcard you received to sign up before the deadline and participate in the effort to turn our spoil into soil! Learn more at mypgc.us/compost.

Eligible residents will have received a postcard in the mail with opt in information, including individual verification codes. The deadline to opt in is:

The County is providing a limited number of residents to participate in the next phase of expanding the Food Scraps Composting Program! This unique curbside organics collection opportunity will divert organic materials, for composting, including: food, food soiled paper, uncoated paper plates and bags, paper towels and napkins, coffee grounds, tea bags and loose tea, paper ice cream containers, egg shells, dairy products, fruits and vegetables, meat and bones, seafood and shell fish, bread, pasta and grains, in addition to yard trim.

Prince George's County Lifts Mask Mandate

Due to a continue decline in COVID-19 metrics and increasing vaccination rates, health officials have advised the County it is safe to follow CDC guidance and lift the mask mandate. Unvaccinated individuals are strongly encouraged to continue wearing a mask until they are fully vaccinated, and are encouraged to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Library – Phase Three Reopening

The Prince George's County Memorial Library System will begin Phase 3 reopening on Monday, June 14. During Phase 3, libraries will be open to the public for full browsing, with computer use and curbside service by appointment. More information at www.pgcmls.info/reopening.
