Bike to Work Day 2021
Bike to Work Day is celebrating its 20th anniversary in our region on May 21, 2021! This free, national event is held each May during National Bike Month to promote bicycling as a form of transportation and as a great way to improve health and wellness. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (MWCOG), Commuter Connections and the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA) are coordinating approximately 100 Bike to Work Day events across the region, including 10 pit stops in Prince George’s County.
There is an established COVID-19 plan in place this year that requires social distancing, the wearing of face masks and staggered arrival times. There will be no hands-on demonstrations, instead this will be a grab and go style event.
Vision Zero Prince George’s is Prince George’s Proud to support Bike to Work Day! The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T), the Department of Parks and Recreation of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) and the Prince George’s County Bicycle and Pedestrian Community Advisory Group are co-hosting the Largo/Kettering/Perrywood Community Center Pit Stop.
- Location: 431 Watkins Park Drive in Upper Marlboro.
- Date: Friday, May 21, 2021
- Time: 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM, with staggered arrival times.
The pit stop is adjacent to the Perrywood Elementary School and is accessible by existing bike lanes along Watkins Park Drive and by the paved Watkins Park Trail.
Whether commuting to the office or working from home, residents, employees and visitors can register at https://www.biketoworkmetrodc.org/ or http://bit.ly/dcbtwd2021.
Those that register for the Largo/Kettering/Perrywood Community Center Pit Stop by May 14, 2021, will receive a free Bike to Work Day t-shirt and a Vision Zero Prince George’s Grab and Go bag!
