Prince George’s County Enters Phase 2B for Vaccine Distribution

Dear Prince Georgians:

Yesterday, I announced that we will be moving forward with scheduling vaccine appointments for individuals on our pre-registration list who are eligible in Phase 2B of the vaccine distribution plan. As we continue to hit new milestones in our vaccination efforts through our Health Department’s vaccination clinics and the clinics operated by our partners, we are able to increase the number of our residents eligible for this life-saving vaccine.

As a reminder, individuals who live or work in the County must fill out a pre-registration form in order to receive a vaccination appointment with our County Health Department by visiting mypgc.us/ProudToBeProtected. No walk-ups are being accepted at our Health Department vaccination sites.

Individuals eligible in Phase 2B include:

  • Residents 16 and older with medical conditions that increase their risk for severe COVID-19 illness, including:
    • Cancer
    • Chronic kidney disease
    • Chronic lung diseases, including COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asthma (moderate-to-severe), interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, and pulmonary hypertension
    • Dementia or other neurological conditions
    • Diabetes (Type 1 or 2)
    • Down Syndrome
    • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathies, or hypertension
    • HIV infection
    • Immunocompromised state (weakened immune system)
    • Liver disease
    • Overweight/Obesity (BMI of 25 kg/m2 or higher)
    • Pregnancy
    • Sickle cell disease or thalassemia
    • Smoking
    • Solid organ or blood stem cell transplant
    • Stroke or cerebrovascular disease
    • Substance use disorders
  • Residents 16 and older with disabilities who are receiving SSI or SSDI benefits, Maryland Medicaid EID individuals, Maryland Medicaid REM recipients, and Marylanders receiving TDAP benefits.
  • Residents receiving long-term services and support through the State’s Medicaid waiver and State plan services.

We will continue to prioritize seniors in Phase 1 who have not been vaccinated yet. However, I encourage everyone to fill out the pre-registration form with the County Health Department, if you have not already done so. Given the increase in vaccine supply, those in later vaccine distribution phases will not have to wait as long for their vaccine. When the County enters future phases of vaccine distribution, those individuals that have pre-registered will receive a notification that they are eligible.

Finally, I want to remind you that we are not out of the woods yet, despite the progress we have made in our vaccine distribution efforts. Please continue to protect your loved ones from COVID-19 by wearing a mask, staying six feet apart from others, and pre-registering for your COVID-19 vaccine appointment.

Yours in Service,

Angela Alsobrooks
