During Women’s History Month, we are celebrating the women of the Prince George's County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T). We are reminded daily of the diverse and committed group of women that work at our agency. We applaud women who have and will continue to blaze the way in public works, transportation and beyond.
You can see a video highlighting some of the amazing women in the transportation field and in our community online and aboard TheBus.
To all the women of DPW&T, we see you, we support you and we thank you!
- DPW&T Facts:
- Three of the four offices within our agency, the Office of Administrative Services, the Office of Engineering and Project Management and the Office of Transportation, are led by women.
- In 1995, Betty Hager Francis became the first woman to serve as the Director of DPW&T.
Pothole Blitz
Our crews work year-round through rain, sleet and snow, but warm weather provides the perfect opportunity to focus on addressing the damage caused to county-maintained roadways by adverse conditions.
Litter Blitz
Illegally dumped materials and litter, including business advertisement signs, detract from the beauty of our County. Since June 2020, a total of 734K pounds of litter and illegally dumped materials have been removed.
The team at our Office of Highway Maintenance, in partnership with the Maryland State Highway Administration, are working in a sustained effort to rid Prince George's County of litter.
If you spot illegally dumped materials or potholes, please call 3-1-1 or 301-883-4748. You can also submit service requests online at http://countyclick311.com.
Read the 2021 Sustainability Report to learn how DPW&T programs improve air quality, energy efficiency, clean water, beautification, and roadway safety. Additionally, the report details how our sustainability efforts align with County, region, and state climate action goals and Vision Zero Prince George's.

Members of DPW&T's Office of Transportation are working with the Health Department and Department of Homeland Security to assist with countywide vaccination efforts, by operating Mobile COVID-19 Vaccination Units.
We must remain vigilant in our efforts to eradicate COVID-19 by practicing good hygiene, wearing face coverings, maintaining a social distance of at least 6 feet and getting vaccinated. Please don't become complacent. Do your part to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.
You can pre-register for the COVID-19 vaccine at mypgc.us/proudtobeprotected.
For updates and information regarding COVID-19, regularly check the County's Coronavirus page.
