Prince George's County COVID-19 Vaccination Update
Dear Prince Georgians:
Yesterday, I held a press conference for our community, providing several updates on COVID-19 vaccinations. I want to be sure you see some of the most critical updates for our vaccine distribution efforts:
- We have reached an incredible milestone. I’m happy to report over 100,000 residents have now received at least one dose of a vaccine, and over 50,000 residents are fully vaccinated.
- Our Health Department vaccination capacity is now more than 2,000 vaccines per day, or about 15,000 per week.
- The Health Department is currently operating five vaccination clinics across the County, and we also have three mobile vaccination units that can administer about 150 vaccines per day, total.
- As a reminder, the Sports & Learning vaccination clinic will close from March 13-28 and reopen on March 29, due to scheduled maintenance at the facility. The opening of Kentland Community Center and Cedar Heights Community Center will ensure we do not lose vaccination capacity for our County Health Department. All vaccination clinics are open by appointment only. Walk ups are not accepted due to vaccine supply.
- We also met with Governor Hogan’s team to discuss expanding priority vaccine appointments for Prince Georgians. As a result, beginning next week, the State will set aside at least 300 appointments per day at Six Flags for residents on our County Health Department’s pre-registration list (a total of 2,100 priority appointments per week).
- Over the coming weeks, the State will begin directly facilitating nearly 10,000 priority appointments per week for County residents, through an upcoming vaccination clinic at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden and partnerships with several local pharmacies.
- The clinic at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden should open next Monday, and will ramp up to 980 shots per day by the end of the month, for a total of 6,860 shots per week.
- Walmart is conducting 500-dose closed clinics for County residents, each week, at the location in Clinton, and 200 dose-clinics at the Landover location.
- Wegmans has begun 200-dose closed clinics for County residents at its Lanham store. Giant is utilizing 2,200 doses for closed clinics to vaccinate disabled populations in our County.
- Congressman Steny Hoyer has helped secure vaccines for the Greater Baden Medical Services facility, one of our federally qualified health centers. We are excited that Greater Baden Medical Services will be among the next federal health centers to receive an allocation of vaccines directly from the federal government.
As we get closer to defeating this pandemic once and for all, I want to remind you to please continue to do your part to stop the spread of COVID-19 by following social distancing guidelines, washing your hands and following the advice of our health officials. When it’s your turn, please take the opportunity to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by pre-registering for your vaccine appointment. Together, we can keep each other safe and end this pandemic.

- Last week we set a new weekly record with 11,425 vaccinations provided by our Health Department, an increase of 44% from the previous week. Over 8,200 were first doses. When counting all vaccine providers, over 31,000 doses were provided to County residents.
- This week we have already provided nearly 4,000 first dose vaccinations and over 800 single-dose vaccinations from Johnson & Johnson.
- To date, the County has received 62,830 vaccines, and has administered 55,195 of those doses (approximately 87.8%). This metric (percentage of vaccine administered) changes day to day as new vaccine shipments come in and the number of second dose vaccines waiting to be given are administered in the days ahead.
- The State has announced that we will receive an increase, from at least 4,400 doses, to 5,700 first doses per week going forward. We will also receive an additional allocation of 5,850 first doses next week.
- Of our vaccine on hand, we currently have 1,678 first doses remaining, 430 single doses remaining, and the rest are designated for second doses.
 In order to receive a COVID-19 vaccine through the Prince George’s County Health Department, individuals who live or work in the County must fill out our pre-registration form.
- Over 178,000 pre-registrations have been received as of March 11 (over 156,000 are County residents).
- 62% of County residents who have pre-registered are eligible in Phase 1.
- Over 36,000 County residents on the pre-registration list have already been vaccinated (23.5%)
- We are still prioritizing scheduling individuals in Phases 1A and 1B.
 The new Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine is FDA-approved, safe and effective. In fact, it is nearly 100% effective at preventing hospitalizations and deaths. The fact sheet above shows what you need to know about this new vaccine.
 While the County Health Department currently operates five vaccination clinics in the County, in addition to three mobile vaccination units, there are a number of vaccination sites available in Prince George’s County that are not operated by the County. We encourage you to sign up at these other sites to increase your options to receive a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
Please remember that we do not manage nor control appointments, or distribution for any sites besides those operated by our County Health Department.

Appointments: Individuals who live or work in Prince George’s County should fill out the pre-registration form to be added to the waiting list. Individuals who cannot fill out the pre-registration form online should call 311 and press # for assistance.
Six Flags America Theme Park & Other State Vaccination Sites (Not County-Operated)

Appointments: Sign up for appointment updates at mass vaccinations sites by texting MDREADY to 898-211. Visit covidvax.maryland.gov for more information.
- Older adults in Phase 1 can call the Maryland Department of Health COVID-19 Vaccination Support Center at 1-855-MDGOVAX (1-855-634-6829) to schedule vaccine appointments at mass vaccination sites. The call center is open seven days a week from 7 AM to 10 PM. The Vaccination Support Center is specifically designed to assist older adults and residents without Internet access.
- Those who have signed up with the County Health Department’s pre-registration list may receive appointments through this site. The County provided the State with 31,000 names from its pre-registration list, last week.

Appointments: The Reid Temple AME vaccination clinic is operated in partnership with Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center. Appointments can be made by pre-registering through Luminis Health. Learn more here.
The Arc Prince George’s County (Not County-Operated)

Appointments: The Arc Prince George’s has received clearance from the State to open a COVID-19 vaccine clinic to Prince George’s County residents who are 65 years of age or older. There will be an audit process to screen out those who are not eligible. Seniors can express interest in getting the vaccine by filling out a form online here.
- Over 152,492 vaccines have been provided to 106,545 county residents with 45,847 residents have received their second vaccination.
- There are an estimated 728,050 residents ages 16 and older, the minimum age for vaccination.
- Our goal is to have 473,232 residents vaccinated by this summer, or 65% of this population and 80% by this fall.
- We are at 22.5% of our summer goal. Last Friday, we were at 17%.
