Out of an abundance of caution, officials are urging area residents to avoid travel to Washington, DC from Sunday, January 16 to Thursday, January 21, 2021. Authorities have already begun closing streets surrounding the United States Capitol and the National Mall. For your safety, it is strongly advised that you take part in the festivities virtually from home.
If you do decide to travel into the District of Columbia, please wear a face mask or face covering, maintain physical distance from others and wash or sanitize your hands often. Additionally, with our region on high alert, we implore you to report any suspicious behavior you observe to local authorities. If you See Something, Say Something. Safety is a shared responsibility.
Work on the project is complete! DPW&T constructed the outfall discharge point to the end of the channel by extending the existing storm drain network and filling the eroded channel. DPW&T constructed riprap outlet protection at the new outfall location to prevent scour. The storm drain and open-channel combination will ensure the short- and long-term stability of the site, which will improve the stability and water quality of Tinker’s Creek.
Thank you to our partners at DPIE, SCD, Army Corps, MDE, NRI, TCP, OHM and MNCPPC.
