The BDS Team recently assisted Shoppers World in Hillcrest Heights with the permitting and licensing process. Shoppers World is a department store that sells apparel for all ages, in addition to home furnishings, linens and other home décor goods. The Iverson store is the second location in the County. Shoppers World has another store at Beltway Plaza in Greenbelt.

“Shoppers is chock-full of new merchandise for the season,” said Shoppers World Executive Chris Forster. He said the store has offered job opportunities in the County by hiring several new employees during the pandemic.

The Inside Scoop

The New Momentum System Modernizes DPIE’s Tech Processes

Momentum logo of letter "M" in green and blue lines

DPIE recently transitioned to a new online system, Momentum, for licensing, permitting, inspections and code enforcement. The October launch, the first phase of Momentum, focused on business licensing; and single-family, multifamily and short-term rental licensing. Momentum allows customers to submit applications, make payments and upload documents online. Once the applications are approved, customers may print their licenses at home or work.

The second phase of the Momentum system will focus on the Enforcement Division and Health Department functions within DPIE. Phase Three will streamline procedures in DPIE’s Inspections, Site/Road Plan Review and Building Plan Review divisions, as well as processes associated with the Department of the Environment (DoE). Read about Momentum on the DPIE website.
