Prince George’s County’s "The Bus" will Extend Service on Election Day

Largo, MD – Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks announced that “TheBus” will provide extended service hours up to 9:00 pm on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, for Election Day. Service will be extended on all active County bus lines (13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37 and 51-A and 51-B) to help ensure all Prince Georgians have access to polling locations throughout the County. The additional hours of operation will benefit residents who rely on public transportation and provide extra time for those voting in person after work, by ensuring they have a ride home from the polls. “The Bus” also remains free for all riders.

“The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) of Prince George’s County recognizes the community’s interest in exercising their right to vote in this presidential election.  The lack of transportation access to polling places should not be a barrier for anyone,” said DPW&T Director Terry Bellamy.

Not every polling location is accessible by public transportation. Residents can view the polling locations closest to them, as well as connectivity options on the Prince George’s County Transportation Hub at mypgc.us/transportationhub.

While “The Bus” will extend service hours, “Call-A-Bus” will operate during normal service hours on Election Day. Residents requiring the “Call-A-Bus” service to get to the polls should submit requests early by calling at 301-499-8603.
