Celebrating 10 Years of Capital Bikeshare in the Region
Largo, MD – Sunday, September 20, 2020 marks the 10th year that Capital Bikeshare has provided bikeshare as a convenient, affordable and sustainable transportation option to riders in the Washington Metropolitan Area! Capital Bikeshare provides riders access to traditional pedal bikes as well as hybrid pedal-assist eBikes. Today Capital Bikeshare is available in seven jurisdictions across the region, including Prince George’s County and Montgomery County in Maryland; Fairfax, Falls Church, Arlington and Alexandria in Virginia, and Washington, DC.
Prince George’s County continues to grow its inventory of bikes and docking stations, with 24 bikeshare stations currently and additional locations planned. Bikeshare not only provides an eco-friendly traveling option, it helps to improve accessibility throughout the County by connecting commuters to other forms of public transportation during their first and last mile of travel.
