ICYMI: Working to Make You Proud in Year One
Dear Prince Georgians:
This week marked one year since the start of our administration, and I wanted to be sure you saw some of the materials we shared earlier this week. Below, you will find an infographic that shows some of our accomplishments in year one, as well as a video that recaps some of the great things we have gotten done for our residents.
From passing our $4.2 billion FY 2020 budget to attending over 500 community events and meetings, together, we have accomplished so much in such a short time. I am truly appreciative of my team and all of our residents who stay engaged with County Government, as we could not have accomplished any of this without the collective efforts of our entire community.
I am also excited to share two quick updates as we begin year two of our administration. Our team at the Office of Community Relations (OCR) is in the midst of their first-ever 12 Days of Giving initiative, part of our overall Proud to Give Back campaign for the holiday season. For the first 12 days of this month, OCR will donate volunteer time and resources to non-profits, schools, government agencies, and other groups throughout the County.
In addition, our next Community Conversation will be held Tuesday, December 17, at Crossland High School. We will discuss our Proud Priorities and initiatives that will guide our administration over the next several years, building on the progress we have made in year one. More information about the 12 Days of Giving and our Community Conversation is provided below.
We are already hitting the ground running in year two, and I know that by working together, it will be even more successful than year one.
Yours in service,
Angela Alsobrooks

A Video Recap of Year One
12 Days of Giving
In the spirit of giving back, the Office of Community Relations (OCR) is pleased to announce its first 12 Days of Giving initiative taking place December 1-12. OCR has randomly chosen non-profit organizations, schools, government agencies, and other groups to volunteer at, serve and surprise with a little holiday cheer. Each day is reflective of the song "Twelve Days of Christmas." So far, OCR has made the following stops throughout the County:
December 1 (Partridge in a Pear Tree) - hosted a tailgate party, including pear gifts, for our veterans at the VFW.
December 2 (2 Turtle Doves) - hosted a BINGO day for our seniors at the Crestridge Senior Activity Center.
December 3 (3 French Hens) - served hot breakfast sandwiches to our PGCPS bus drivers.
December 4 (4 Calling Birds) - volunteered with event registration and host/hostess support at the Red & Gold Gala for seniors.
December 5 (5 Golden Rings) - served donuts and coffee to our police officers.
The 12 Days of Giving is part of the County Government's Proud to Give Back campaign, an effort to give back to our community and support our residents during the holiday season. We look forward to several more days of spreading holiday cheer to Prince Georgians!
Community Conversation on December 17
Our next Community Conversation is being held on Tuesday, December 17. Join us as the County Executive discusses the Proud Priorities and initiatives that will guide our administration over the next several years. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask questions of the County Executive and agency leadership in our County Government.
The event will be held Tuesday, December 17, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Crossland High School Auditorium (6901 Temple Hill Road, Camp Springs, MD). Doors open at 6:00 PM. While the event is free and open to the public, please RSVP to Zahra Isaacs at ZIsaacs@co.pg.md.us. If you need sign language, Spanish language, or other accommodations, please include that request in your RSVP to Zahra so those services can be arranged.
We hope to see you there as we continue working together to move Prince George’s County forward!
