PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY WILL OPERATE THE BUS ON THE JULY 4TH HOLIDAY
LARGO, MD – For the first time ever, Prince George’s County will operate TheBus on Independence Day, July 4, 2019, on a modified holiday schedule. The Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) operations for TheBus began in the County in 1989. However, service has never been provided during major holidays such as the Fourth of July. We are pleased that customers will have a public transit option during the upcoming holiday.
“During the July 4th holiday, customers who may have to work or those that would like to travel in the County during the holiday will be able to do so on TheBus,” said DPW&T Director, Terry L. Bellamy. “This new holiday service on TheBus will also allow customers to connect from TheBus to some Metrobus routes. In terms of cost, TheBus will continue its low fare of $1.25 per person, with free rides for our seniors, disabled and youth, with the proper identification.”
TheBus will operate a modified service schedule specific to Routes 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 23, 24, 26, 30, 32, 33, and 35. Routes will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Customers can also check the DPW&T website for TheBus schedule: https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/1120/Countys-TheBus. The County’s Call-A-Bus service, including dialysis transportation, will not operate on July 4, 2019. Call-A-Bus services will resume July 5, 2019. The metro holiday schedule can be found at https://www.wmata.com/service/status/details/july-4-2018.cfm.
Thank you for your patronage on TheBus, and best wishes for a safe and happy 4th of July!
