Prince George's Proud:
An Update From County Executive Alsobrooks
Dear Prince Georgians:
Earlier this week, I gave my State of the County address to the business community at The Hotel in College Park. I want to thank the Prince George’s County Economic Development Corporation and the Greater Prince George’s Business Roundtable for hosting a great event.
Through thoughtful partnerships with business and community leaders, as well as the input of our citizens and residents, my Administration is fully committed to expanding opportunities for innovative companies, attracting top talent to the area and bringing new life to our challenged shopping centers. We are also committed to improving our regional competitiveness, making it easier to do business here, and working tirelessly to promote Prince George’s County as a great place to locate your business.
Without a doubt, Prince George’s County is a vibrant community committed to developing and nurturing generations of people and businesses. This was evident when I had the honor of attending several high school graduation ceremonies across this county and shaking hands with our outstanding scholars as their diplomas were conferred upon them.
By all accounts and from the feedback we are hearing at the 408 community meetings we have attended since December, or when I see you out and about running errands, I am encouraged because together we are indeed making great strides, and we are just getting started.
Last but certainly not least, I also want to take this opportunity to wish all the fathers, father figures and mentoring organizations for young males - including my dad, James Alsobrooks - a Happy Father’s Day as you are celebrated this Sunday. I have the pleasure of meeting and witnessing many of you in action through our collective efforts to encourage and support our youth. Please know you are loved and appreciated.
We are Prince George’s Proud, the Crown Jewel of Maryland and by working together, we can accomplish anything.
Yours in service,
Angela Alsobrooks
Prince George’s County Executive

Summer Youth Enrichment Program Hosts Job Fairs to Place More Applicants
One of two job fairs hosted by the Summer Youth Enrichment Program.
The Summer Youth Enrichment Program, Prince George’s County’s nationally recognized youth summer jobs program, continues to exceed the County Executive’s initial goals. In January, we announced that SYEP would double the number of jobs available for youth, from 3,000 to 6,000. After an overwhelming response with more than 10,000 applications received, the SYEP team has worked to secure further job commitments and will place 7,000 youth in jobs this summer.
SYEP held two job fairs in the month of June to connect 18-22-year-old SYEP applicants who had yet to be placed in summer jobs. Hundreds of SYEP applicants showed up to meet with employers that have partnered with Employ Prince George’s. These applicants brought resumes and interviewed with companies in attendance, some of which received job offers on the spot. These job fairs are just one way the SYEP team has been going above and beyond to place as many SYEP applicants as possible.
If your business is still looking for summer employees and would like to hire SYEP talent, please reach out to Employ Prince George’s at 301-618-8400.
