Green Your Spring Cleaning

Green Clean Tues Tip insta
  • Look for EPA’s “Designed for the Environment” and “Safer Choice” labels.
  • Watch out for warning words such as “Danger,” “Caution,” “Warning,” and “Irritant” on conventional cleaners but if you have to use them, make sure the room is properly ventilated.
  • Consider making your own all-purpose cleaner with lemon juice and vinegar or baking soda.

Looking to dispose of those conventional cleaners? Cooking oil? Propane tanks? Old TV or computer screen? Look no further! The Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill will accept them free of charge, for all County residents!

Did you know that you can recycle latex paint in your curbside recycling as long as it has been dried out/hardened and placed in a plastic bag?

Every month, our Animal Services Division hosts a variety of free classes for the public on general pet care, what it means to foster and how volunteering at the shelter can help a four-legged friend find a forever home.

Our Pet Parenting Classes are held the third Saturday of each month at 12 noon. Learn what it takes to be a responsible pet owner and a great family host to a four-legged friend for its lifetime. To register for this free class, call 301-780-7220.
