EDI Fund leverages $1 Billion in Investments

“The EDI Fund has been the ‘grease’ that has allowed Prince George’s County to become the economic engine of the State of Maryland and the National Capital Region. Prior to my administration, Prince George’s County did not have this critical economic development tool, and was an after-thought in the business community. The $50 million EDI Fund was established to “Wow” the business community and demonstrated that Prince George’s County was willing to put our own skin in the game. Within six years, $36 million in Fund awards have or will generate $1 billion in private investment that has created or retained over 12,000 new jobs."

Capital Bikeshare launches first locations in Prince George's

Capital Bikeshare is expanding its territory for bike rentals, establishing itself in Prince George’s County.

Stations are located at the Largo Town Center Metro and the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building. New stations also have opened along the U.S. Route 1 corridor: in University Park, Hyattsville and near the county line with the District.

“We’re just really excited that we have a beginning here, and we’re going to continue until we have a full launch throughout the county,” said Paulette L. Jones, a spokeswoman for the County’s public works department. “In the latter part of the summer, we expect to reach locations in the National Harbor area.”

FutureCare opens rehabilitation center in "Downtown Prince George's"

FutureCare Health & Management recently opened its new $30 million rehabilitation center in Largo, the first new one in Prince George’s County in at least 20 years.

Construction on FutureCare Capital Region began in late 2016.

Durant wins second NBA championship, one of three County athletes in NBA Finals

The NBA Finals were closely watched by residents throughout Prince George's County. That's because three homegrown, Prince George's County athletes competed for the championship. Golden State Warriors star Kevin Durant is from Seat Pleasant and his teammate Quinn Cook went to high school in Hyattsville. They played against Cleveland Cavalier Jeff Green, who was born and raised in Cheverly.

Fleet Management ranks among best in the nation

The Prince George's County Fleet Management Department was ranked #3 (tied) in “The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas” sponsored by The 100 Best Fleets in the Americas. The county earned a third place tie out of 38,000 public fleets in North America and was recognized for distinguished customer service, sustainability practices and employee training.
