Happy New Year, Wayne K. Curry Administration Building

original masthead

"I want to wish you and your family a bright and prosperous 2018. We have overcome many challenges during the past year and I am sure there will be more to come. But as the world swirls around us, it's important to remember that, at our core, we will be remembered for the good that we do in the world. This spirit was exemplified by two officers in our Department of Corrections who were recently lauded for saving the life of an inmate in distress. You can see the video of their award ceremony here.

This is my final year in this office and it has been my great honor and privilege to serve as your County Executive. Here is a recent year in review published by The Sentinel Newspapers. We have done great things together and we will do more in 2018.

Happy New Year!"

Hundreds of current and former elected officials and residents joined County Executive Baker to dedicate the new Wayne K. Curry Administration Building in downtown Largo. Former County Executive Curry was lauded as a one-of-a-kind visionary who laid the foundation for those who followed him and set Prince George's on a path to success.

When the building opens later this year, it will be the home for the County Executive, the County Council and other County Government administrative offices.

Moving the county operations of the executive and council is seen as a way of making local government more accessible: Largo is located in the center of the County, whereas the current County Administration Building is in Upper Marlboro on the county’s eastern border.
